Protective Device Coordination

While designing and planning Electrical Power Systems, it is important to make the right selection of protective devices and to properly adjust their settings such that the impact caused by any short-circuit or equipment failure is minimized.

The way we proceed:

To provide this type of service, we first perform a short circuit calculation at all nodes and busbars of the power system. The objective is to identify the minimum and maximum values of the fault current that the protection devices must eliminate.

The next step consists in analyzing the protection plan or defining a new plan: which protection devices must respond to a  fault and under what criteria.
The setting and coordination analysis stage involves constructing time-current curves allowing the coordiantion to be verified.

We can carry out on site measurements to obtain the missing equipment parameters and validate the simulation model.
